Remedial Hot Stone Massage

Course Description...

This innovative technique goes beyond the experience of a typical massage therapy and enters deeper dimensions of relaxation and efficacy in helping a client with tight, congested muscles.

Using special iron-rich basalt volcanic stones the client is engulfed in warmth and the therapist can massage more deeply, using the stones do all the work, preventing repetitive strain injuries to the hands. The heat from the stones will help to loosen tight muscles and to enhance flexibility. The pressure and placement of the stones makes the person feel grounded and secure.

The radiating heat, into even the deepest of muscles, promotes a feeling of well being and relaxation of the mind. This course is mostly practical and will teach you how to perform a Hot and cold Stone Massage treatment competently and to workplace standards.

This course is designed for students who are not just interested in following a routine. The advanced techniques learned will enable the student to use the stones as tools in releasing tension, focusing on trigger points and referred pain.

The one-day course will cover the following:

• Aftercare and homecare
• Care and cleansing of the stones and heater
• Trigger point therapy with hot and cold stones

• Use of stones to enhance a treatment

• Practical application of a competent treatment

Course requirements...

Students must hold a recognised body massage certificate e.g. ITEC, VTCT, C & G.

Students will be awarded a Diploma in Advanced Hot Stone Massage from ‘The Holistic Academy’ and will be able to update their insurance with the Federation of Holistic Therapists. CPD points will also be given.
