Who is the course designed for?
Complementary therapies are widely available to people with cancer and increasingly to patients with a range of long term medical and life limiting conditions. These therapies are delivered alongside orthodox treatments, often within the healthcare setting, with the aim of providing psychological and emotional support through the relief of symptoms.
This course is designed for learners who are currently working or would like to work in a hospice or hospital setting and are looking to enhance their massage skills.
This qualification will give learners the essential knowledge to assist in providing therapeutic skills within a clinical setting.
How long does it take to complete?
The course is delivered in 5 days. However, the days will be divided to ensure learners enough time to complete case studies and assignments to show evidence in their portfolios. These days include practical assessments.
Pre-requisites
Candidates must be in possession of one of the following:
• VTCT Level 3 (or equivalent) in Aromatherapy, Reflexology and Massage.
Learners should also hold a Level 3 Diploma in Anatomy and Physiology
This qualification requires you to organise a work placement within a healthcare setting where you can work with both clients/patients and carers in a realistic working environment (RWE).

What is the programme structure?
The course comprises of the practical aspects of complementary therapies. Theoretical learning will also form the basis of the portfolio of evidence. Learners are expected to complete assignments, case studies for clients in a realistic working environment in their own time and to keep a formal reflective journal. Learners should aim to provide complementary therapy to a variety of different clients with life limiting medical conditions or those who are clinically frail.

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed throughout the course working in the learning salon. Assessment will be through observation, case studies, assignments and written papers. You will be supported by your tutor to guide you through the course and they will also be available for post course guidance should you need it. There will be plenty of emphasis on carrying out complementary therapies in a healthcare setting.
What qualification will I achieve?
On successful completion of the course, you will be awarded a VTCT Level 4 Diploma in Providing Clients with Cancer and other Life Limiting Conditions.
How much does the course cost?
£900 including assessment fees.
Non refundable deposit payments secure your place on the course. The remainder or first instalment (half the total cost of the course), must be paid before commencement of the course agreed with the centre for either tutored sessions or distance learning.
